K-DRAMA; 아홉수 소년 Plus Nine Boys

I love that tvN uploads highlights (above) and even behind the scenes videos (below!) of some of their dramas.

This drama holds so much meaning for me because not only do I love Standing Egg, Coffee Boy, and many other Korean indie bands (#인디밴드사랑), I am feeling the woes of my age and it is just such a relatable drama.

K-DRAMA; 네일샵 파리스 Nail Shop Paris

네일샵 파리스 Nail Shop Paris

There are so many bad reviews for 네일샵 파리스 Nail Shop Paris but I decided to watch it anyway because of 송재림 Song Jae Rim as I’ve liked him since 꽃미남 라면가게 Flower Boy Ramen Shop. I know it’s an old drama, I’m still trying to catch up with all the old dramas I’ve planned but hadn’t had time to watch.

To be honest, I actually enjoyed the drama! I didn’t think I’d like it because I wasn’t sure about 박규리 Park Gyu Ri‘s acting, but I won’t say everyone’s acting is exactly good in this drama, hahaha. The storyline isn’t fantastic, but it’s really not that bad of a fluff drama, giving me all these feels. xD It ended with a twist that felt a little awkward though.

With all the stress lately, I like that I didn’t have to think much while watching the drama. I’m curious about what happened to 전지후 Jeon Ji Hu though. His last production was in 2014?! Where did he go?

Korean Dramas

K-DRAMA; 닥터스 Doctors

I kind of had some sort of high expectations for this drama; not just because I’ve liked Park Shin Hye since forever, but also because I read that she did her fight scenes without a stunt double. How amazing!

What wasn’t amazing was the rest of this drama’s plot. -_- The only thing that kept me watching was the other couples instead. Moon Ji In was a fantastic supporting role to Park Shin Hye, Yoon Gyun Sang left the deepest impression on me in this drama as compared to his other dramas because his character was just so adorable and Kim Min Seok’s character with his satoori and bromance with his brother. :3 I was also annoyed that Ji Soo’s character just disappeared in the middle without a proper ending – I was curious about his family!

What’s sad is that the ending was also really boring for me. :/

Binge-watching Dramas & Language Learning

When do I not? Haha. But that’s not the point.

After weeks and weeks (more like months) of Korean dramas, I wanted a break from listening to Korean, so last week became Chinese drama week, and I just finished a Japanese drama.

I can multitask with Chinese and Korean dramas but with Japanese dramas… #constantlyreadingsubtitles >< Reminds me of when I first started watching Korean dramas and relied on subtitles to understand. Moments like this make me realise how far I’ve come.

I would love to pick up Japanese one day, but my Simplified Chinese reading and writing skills are weak (I need hanyu pinyin when typing Chinese) and Japanese uses kanji (Traditional Chinese characters), which makes it twice as bad. D:

I also want to learn sign language one day! Although there’s so many kinds, I have no idea where to start… but that’s another topic altogether! I digress.

Let’s stick to brushing up on my Chinese first, haha.

Speaking of which, there is one thing I really hate – people who presume you would be good at your mother tongue and mock you when you are not.

Yes, I’m of Chinese descent, but at school, I always excelled in English and struggled with Chinese. It is not a given for everyone to be good at their mother tongue because so many factors affect whether they would be good at it or not. #rantover

K-DRAMA; 용팔이 Yong Pal

Yong Pal

온종일 일하면서 용팔이 봤다 ㅎㅎ
Watched Yong Pal all day whilst doing some office work.

It’s interesting at the start, but I got bored in between…
Now the end is starting to get interesting again so I’m good. xD

Just wanted to update a little since I’ve been so quiet on the blogging front.
Is anyone even reading anymore? No one ever comments!
Everyone only comes here for my Yonsei KLI Q&A, lol.

Okay, time for bed!

K-DRAMA; 다섯 손가락 Five Fingers

I started liking 주지훈 Ju Ji Hoon after first watching him in 궁 Goong, which is also one of my top favourite Korean dramas. He has been acting in more films than dramas, and medical dramas are not really my style, so the last drama I saw him in was 키친 Kitchen. That was pretty good too.

He’s absolutely fantastic in this drama. (I didn’t like his hair at first. I’m glad it changed later on, lol.) It’s 30 episodes long and I was doubtful when I first started because I like things short and sweet and it’s not the type of drama I’d usually watch, but I’ve already breezed past 14 episodes without feeling bored. It brings you on an emotional roller coaster ride. I got annoyed a lot of the time by the evil characters, but it’s typical of such dramas. I like it so far though.

DailyBap Rating (for now): 3.8/5

[EDIT 17 Feb ’15] So I finished the drama, and my rating remains the same. Whilst it was captivating, there were parts that were predictable, and parts that were surprising, but the ending really threw me off; I’m not sure I quite like it. Apparently they filmed two endings and the cast weren’t informed of which one would air. I’m pretty interested in the other ending, wish I could watch it too!

FAN MEETING; Ha Ji Won 1st Asia Tour in Singapore

Thanks to Lydia, I’ll be going to Ha Ji Won’s fan meeting this Saturday!

She’s such a 멋쟁이 actress. I’ve always been a fan of hers, and I’ve also watched a lot of her dramas/movies. I’m excited about it! We’ll get to hi-five her too! :’D

This brings memories of all the celebrities I’ve touched before. Appropriate touches of course, lol! We’ll leave that for another post, yes? xD
