한국어 일기 Korean Diary, Korean Learning Journey

한글날 Hangeul Day 2016

Hangeul Day

Today, October 9, is Hangeul Day! It is a day to commemorate the creation and proclamation of the Korean alphabet, Hangeul, by King Sejong the Great.

Find out more about this very special day on the Korea Tourism Organization (Singapore) website! :)

I did a handwriting thing last Hangeul Day, and thought I should do something this year too.

TRAVELS; Going Back to My Second Home♡

Hmm, I don’t really blog blog, much less blog on the go, haha. I actually just got off work and I thought I’d take the chance to blog on the bus whilst I’m still alert! I got employed early March and started working full time in an office so my free time has reduced quite a bit. I also am too mentally tired to do anything by the time I get home, hence the lack of updates. (Instagram updates count too, right? :p)

Anyway, I’m heading back to Korea for a two week holiday this Friday, and I’m just so excited! I’ve been wanting to go back since I graduated from Yonsei KLI and came back to Singapore, but holidays aren’t friendly to the wallet of a (then) full time novice freelancer, haha.

In January, a Japanese friend YM, from my KLI L6 class, told me that she’s getting married at the end of May, and would like to invite me to the wedding if I could go to Korea. That was the start of it all, haha. Since I was already planning to go back (though with no specific time frame in mind), why not take this chance not just to go back, but also to attend her wedding? I searched all over for cheap flight tickets and thankfully managed to get round trip tickets for a reasonable price and flight timings with the shortest stop over (I refused to pay more for a direct flight, lol).

Since I spent a lot of my time studying when I was in KLI, I didn’t get to travel much. This time, I’m planning to see as much of Korea as I can! YM and I decided to take a short trip together before her wedding, and I sincerely hope nothing goes wrong! :p A Korean American friend I met when I went to America in 2010 is coincidentally in Korea now and for the period that I’d be there, so we planned to travel together too!

I have so many friends to meet and places to go to, but since I’m only there for two weeks, it’s so difficult to plan! And especially when things don’t always go according to plan… I’ve just made a really rough schedule. Nonetheless, it has been 1.5 years, so I’m excited to see familiar faces and places!^^

Work was really hectic in the past few weeks as I tried to clear as much as I could before flying, but so far so good! I’m pretty much on track. :D I also started packing early just in case I need to work overtime, haha. My life… Love hate relationship with working in an office full time as this will be my last holiday for a while. T_T

…I didn’t mean for this to end on a sad note, lol. YAY KOREA! :D
