CONTEST; OMG, I Won YG Family 2014 GALAXY Tour: Power in Singapore Tickets! ♡

Omgomg… What is this luck? Even though I wanted to go, I decided not to in order to save money… but it all works out great since I won tickets! I’m so~~ happy about this!!! :’) Hahaha. Shanna was the first person to come to mind on who to go with, but she can’t because of work… Sadness! T_T I’ll have to go with another friend then.

[EDIT 11 Sep ’14] Teehee, a friend who won tickets for Saturday asked if I wanted to swop our extra ticket so that we could go for both days, and I agreed! Who wouldn’t? :p Thank you, God! 이렇게 운이 좋을 줄이야! 탑오빠를 볼 수 있는 운 ♡ ㅋㅋ 하나님이 아시나보다? 내가 오빠를 얼마나 좋아하는지 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 감사하고 또 감사합니다!

CONTEST; KBS World Radio's Korean Language Video Contest Preliminaries Results

Aww, unfortunately neither me nor my 2 friends got into the Top 10, but we are draw winners! …whatever that means. The website gives no hint at all, and it seems everyone who participated are draw winners. -_-

Anyway, those who didn’t participate in the video contest, they have events going on as well! Now it’s a “Hangul & Image Matching” event, so try your luck!

LEARNING JOURNEY; 34th TOPIK Results – I Got Level 5!

So the 34th TOPIK results were released at 3PM (KST) this afternoon. I checked my results on the dot and saw that I got Level 5! Whilst I expected just as much, it was still disappointing. I guess I always set my aims too high and get upset over not being able to achieve them. It could be a good and bad thing, I guess. Then again, it’s hard to judge one’s true language ability based on tests such as this. They are merely a rough gauge of one’s grasp of the language.

This is the first time I’m revealing my results in full, lol.

I’ve always been weak at vocabulary, and I don’t like memorising lists. They don’t help much either, only temporarily and I end up forgetting them. Most of the vocabulary I know are from coming across them often enough for me to memorise naturally. I also forgot quite a few new grammar that I learnt during my preparation, so that probably pulled me down.

The open ended questions were like WTH. -_- I can never get the right answers for those (can anyone?!) and they’re worth 10 marks each! >_> The topic for the essay section was difficult, and I didn’t know what to write about, so I was pretty much writing crap. I didn’t even fill up half the page, lol. At this point, I immediately knew that I would only get a Level 5.

I’m surprised I did that well for Listening (thanks to watching too many dramas/variety shows), though I did feel that it wasn’t as difficult as the past papers that I practiced on.

Since I don’t read much (lengthy texts scare me still), my reading speed is pretty slow, and I had trouble completing the Reading section on time. I ended up just randomly picking answers for 4 questions in the last few minutes. :x Even when I was practicing, time constraint was my biggest problem.

So there you have it. My breakdown of why my results are the way they are. I know my weaknesses and I’m working on changing that. In fact, instead of just listening to music when I travel around, I now read Korean books! I need to read more, since reading will help improve my reading speed, as well as vocabulary and grammar, which will in turn help with my writing. Chain reaction, really.

Since heavy texts scare me, I find it best to find something I’m interested in to start from, and it’s going well so far. I’m currently reading 낢이 사는 이야기 1 [시즌 2], a Korean comic book that initially started as a webcomic (what, I still learn words from it and it’s funny, lol), as well as BIGBANG’s 세상에 너를 소리쳐!. There are a lot of unknown words that come up, but I’ve decided not to focus too much on them for now, and to just comprehend as much as I can. I’m planning to slowly move on to other books, most probably novels first. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!

I’ll be working hard to get Level 6 in the next TOPIK. Everyone else planning to take the next TOPIK too, 화이팅!! ^^

D123 K40; 학교 가는 길에 어떤 할미가 꽃의 중간에 서 있더라고. 한순간에 “뭐하시는거지?” 생각을 들었는데 할배가 사진 찍고 있는 거 알게 됐다 ㅎㅎ 게다가 할미 예쁘게 찍으시려고 한참 동안 그렇게 서 계셨다. 완전 귀엽다!! ^^ 나도.. 나중에.. 그렇게 되겠지? ㅜ

On the way to school, I saw a granny standing in the midst of flowers. I was wondering what she was doing, when I spotted the grandpa taking a photo of her, haha. I guess he was trying to take a good photo because he stood like that for quite a while. Really cute!! ^^ I’ll be.. like that.. someday too, right? ;_;

D123 K40; 시험 결정을 나왔다! 4급으로 바꿨으니까 죽을 줄 알았는데 깜놀 잘했으니까 기쁨! ^^ 부모님게 칭찬을 받고 싶었서 찍었당~ ㅎㅎㅎ

D123 K40; Such a cute little cafe! ^^ Thanks to @cloudsteel for introducing~
