UPCOMING EVENT; Talk Concert with Hyunwoo Sun of Talk To Me In Korean

Hi everyone! 👋🏻

It sure has been a long time since I posted anything and I feel sorry about that, but life happened. 😛 Anyway, I have an exciting piece of news! 🎉

If you’ve followed me for a long time, you would know that I first started learning Korean through Talk To Me In Korean 🇰🇷 8 years ago (shocking how fast time flies!). I loved how their lessons were easy for beginners like myself back then to follow, which is the reason it is always the first site that I recommend to beginners or anyone interested in starting their Korean language learning journey.

That’s why I’m thrilled to share that one of my very first Korean teachers and the brain behind TTMIK, 현우쌤, will be in Singapore 🇸🇬 for a talk next week on October 10th! 👏🏻

He will be answering all of your burning questions about the Korean culture and learning Korean so if you’re just interested in coming to ask questions or just listen to him share his knowledge, do sign up via this link! I’ve already signed up so maybe see you there too! 😉

Ollie’s Korean Lessons! 올리의 한국어 배우기 도전!

I’ve been enjoying watching Korean Englishman for quite a while now. Earlier this year, Josh and Ollie started a new series on their new channel, Jolly, called Ollie’s Korean Lessons! 올리의 한국어 배우기 도전! where Josh teaches Ollie some Korean using TTMIK♡’s workbooks, and it is absolutely hilarious!

It really reminds me of the beginnings of my own Korean language learning journey so I especially enjoy this series. Can’t wait for the next season!

I’m sure those of you who follow Eat Your Kimchi and Talk To Me In Korean would know this by now, but for those who don’t, here’s the gist: they got together and opened a café earlier this month called You Are Here Café. Yay!

When I had a meal with Hyunwoo쌤 and Mikyung언니 just before I left Korea last year, he mentioned that they were opening a café sometime this year, and I was really excited about it because it’s another reason to go back to Korea! On top of seeing friends and their then unborn baby (Hi, baby Joon!), haha. I’ve not been there yet, since I’m back in Singapore, but it’s really pretty from the photos I’ve seen. Just look at the one above! IT’S A HOUSE. Coffee Prince, anyone? xD

The plus side to this is that it’s not just a café, it’s also a place for learning! There’s a classroom in the café where TTMIK will hold classes and other events such as self-study sessions:

They have also shifted LanguageCast meetups there, so if you’re looking to make new friends and practice, make sure to be there at 7pm (GMT+9) on Monday nights!

Can you tell how much I love this place already? T_T Can’t wait to go for a visit!

It’s located in Hongdae, where all the happening things are, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find. Address, directions and more below:

Q&A; Yonsei Korean Language Institute

2013 Fall Term Graduation Ceremony
(2013 Fall Term Level 6 Graduation Trip / 2013 Fall Term Level 6 Graduation Debate)

Wow, has it really been a year since my last post? I really thought I’d be able to update with all my experiences whilst in Korea, but I just couldn’t afford the time to. Yonsei KLI’s Regular Program was really intensive! I also got really busy when I came home, hence the quietness.

A couple of weeks ago, I got an email asking me about KLI, and since I’ve been getting similar questions, I thought I’d just put them into a list for easy reference. Any future questions will also be added here. Please check if your question has been answered before asking.

BGM: Piano rendition of Kim Sunggyu’s 60 Seconds (김성규 – 60초) by jgmb829
I’ve had this song on replay for the past two weeks because of the lyrics. It’s getting out of hand, lol.
